DECEPTION
By the very
nature of deception a man doesn’t know he is deceived.
Deception, whether intentional or
unintentional, is deception! Many people in the world today are unintentionally
deceiving others over a multitude of issues because they’ve grown over years or
decades to be deceived themselves. Immorality might be the most perfect
example. In my lifetime alone, what our grandparents believed to be immoral
behavior has now become normal behavior.
About 65 years ago a man who believed he
was a Christian, formed a group of alcoholics believing they had the formula to
lead other alcoholics to sobriety. They led people to believe that their group
and formula was of Christian standards, when in fact its principles were quite
conflicting with basic Christian Doctrine! Whether intentional or
unintentional, anything opposing, defying, or denying sound Christian Doctrine
is deception. Their message would eventually spread around the world and become
an established foundation for addiction recovery.
In spite
of the intended or unintended deception in the 12 step recovery program that
they formulated, it can’t be denied that many alcoholics and addicts have found
sobriety over the past 7 decades. Sadly however, in 2015 Google reports that
their success rate is only 10 %! A staggeringly, pathetically low figure for
such a popular program!
